Assistant Investigator Positions

The Stowers Institute for Medical Research is actively seeking applications from early career scientists for multiple Assistant Investigator positions. This opportunity is ideal for visionary researchers who are looking to establish their independent research programs in a supportive and collaborative environment. Research programs of interest include, but are not limited to, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, neuroscience, cell and developmental biology, genomics, epigenetics, evolution, regeneration, quantitative biology, synthetic biology, and bio-computation.

Selected candidates will join a distinguished group of pioneering scientists across diverse fields, collaborating in a vibrant and supportive environment that encourages groundbreaking discoveries.

Investigator positions at the Stowers Institute are exceptional in that they are fully funded. Funding includes salary, laboratory resources, core facilities expenses and funds for ongoing equipment needs throughout the candidate’s appointment. For Assistant Investigators, this translates to a $750,000 annual research budget, in addition to start-up funds. The support package totals over $5.5 million for the first term and increases significantly with each promotion. The Institute offers an initial appointment of 7 years, subject to renewal every 6 years. Selected candidates will also benefit from exceptional core facilities and staff scientists who function as equal collaborators, actively participating in the design and implementation of experiments.

The Stowers Institute is also home to an outstanding, nationally accredited Graduate School program. The Graduate School provides Stowers investigators with invaluable opportunities to teach, mentor, and nurture the next generation of scientists. Successful candidates will serve as professors within this program, enabling them to recruit Ph.D. and master’s students, as well as summer scholars, to participate in their research initiatives. Additionally, the Stowers Institute features a robust post-doctoral program, further enhancing the academic and research environment.
