The Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a Facility Services Project Manager that will lead and oversee projects in both the Construction Services and the Plant, Engineering and Maintenance areas. The professional in this position will be responsible for coordinating new projects and the maintenance work to the entire campus, assisting with the longevity plan of having a 100-year campus.
Responsibilities Include:
- Planning: Defining project scope, goals, and deliverables, and create detailed project plans. Maintaining high level of organization ensuring daily job allocation.
- Resource management: Allocating resources and ensuring their availability, both internal and external contractors, to ensure uniformity upon project completion. Managing the project budget to ensure funds are allocated appropriately and the project spend stays aligned with the authorized budget.
- Communication: Keeping stakeholders informed and engaged through meetings and status reports. Sharing all pertinent information timely. Building excellent rapport and creating a team environment where all those with project responsibilities work well together.
- Risk management: Managing project risks both internally and externally, ensuring that project timelines and budgets stay in line and are successful.
- Working with architectural and engineering firms to attain necessary permits for each project and working with the Institutes Environmental Health and Safety, Quality and Regulatory Systems Department, assuring project work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Reports and Documentation: Responsible for creating project reports and keeping detailed records for regulatory and audit compliance. To facilitate transparency and demonstrate that project activities comply with established standards and regulations.
Successful candidates will utilize knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements, turning ideas and project plans into tangible deliverables. This position will be responsible for all aspects of project management, ensuring that the projects are coordinated efficiently, timelines are met, and budgets are adhered to. They will work directly with internal members, the internal facilities committee, and outside consultants, contractors and vendors. The successful person will utilize internal resources and systems, balancing technical expertise, time management skills and stakeholder expectations to achieve expected project outcomes. Additional skills for this position include the ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve, ability to work with variables, adaptability to modified schedules, project plans or multiple projects running simultaneously, and familiarity with software used to create construction and floor plans, as well as how to read construction documents and plans/renderings.
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc/BA in construction project management or construction related field, engineering, architecture, building science or relevant field
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
- Five to seven years of experience in a position as a project manager or experience in a comparable position, leading projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 tools and ability to use SharePoint and Oracle systems for internal processes with project management and procurement.
- Working knowledge of large science or medical building MEP systems including central utility plant operations, air management, and electrical systems.
- General knowledge of renovation/experience including carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
