The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Scientist II in our Research Organisms core facility.
Responsibilities Include:
- Initiating, designing, developing, coordinating, and managing major research projects across various animal species.
- Collecting and analyzing data.
- Assisting researchers with project design and implementation for behavioral experiments for various organisms, with downstream coordination with sequencing, cytometry, or microscopy.
- Working closely with principal investigators (PIs), members of the research team and core members of the animal facilities.
- Ensuring data integrity.
- Communicating with participants regarding specified timelines and study objectives.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and procedures.
- Present findings of a project to all stakeholders involved.
- Conduct training sessions in advanced surgical techniques and coordinating annual refresher training.
The successful candidate will have mastered a broad spectrum of basic laboratory techniques in general wet bench lab work. Experience in surgical techniques, behavioral science and electrophysiology is preferred. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as well as exceptional written and verbal communication skills is required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Preference will be given to candidates holding a Ph.D. or equivalent.
- At least five years of relevant scientific experience, including advanced survival surgical techniques in animal models.
