NSF EDGE Workshop
This workshop provides planarian researchers with hands-on experiences to implement our recent developed techniques for transgene expression in planarian cells and live animals.
Nov 07-102022
This workshop provides planarian researchers with hands-on experiences to implement our recent developed techniques for transgene expression in planarian cells and live animals. Participants will perform mRNA synthesis, cell dissociation, animal injection, transfection, and have the opportunity to test their own delivery reagents. In addition, participants will assemble open-source luminescence microscopes to monitor gene expression in planarians using luminescence reporters. Finally, this workshop will provide a forum for our community to discuss and coordinate our efforts in building the transgenesis toolbox for planarian research. We expect all participants to attend the entire workshop.
This workshop will be free to all participants, funded by the NSF EDGE program (IOS-1923524). The logistic costs (lodging, meals, and ground transportation) will be covered, and the airfare will be reimbursed (up to $600 for participants from North America and up to $1,200 for international participants).
Please apply before Aug. 31, 2022.
Workshop capacity is limited. Registrants who have been selected to participate will be notified on or before September 9, 2022.
