Supplier Diversity
At the Stowers Institute for Medical Research we are committed to forging supplier relationships that reflect the cultural diversity of our community. We strongly believe that investing in the growth and development of diverse suppliers will enhance the economic vitality of our communities. We are actively looking to broaden our supplier base and to obtain competitively priced, high-quality goods, services and materials from local companies that reflect our community’s diversity.
Who qualifies as a Diversity Supplier?
For consideration under the Stowers Institute’s Supplier Diversity program, companies must be owned, operated, and controlled by a member of one of the following groups: Women, Asian Americans, African American, Hispanic American and Native American. Ownership by women and minority individuals means that the business is at least 51% owned by such individuals, or in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more such individuals. The management and daily operations must be controlled by those women or minority group members.
In addition, the Stowers Supplier Program recognizes women-owned and minority owned suppliers that have been certified by councils, such as the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (SBENC).
